Siscan Books - Linking electronic work to publication.
My name is Dorothy Krusky, a self-published author of three books in various genres. Each book is unique in that they vary in age group, style and content. Self-publishing is no easy task. However when one sees the completion of an entire book from a blank page to book form it is exciting.
I now understand why we have publishers and agents. I also understand how a chef feels when he/she has completed creating an entire dinner. From an empty bowl to complete fine delectable dishes the chef feels a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. In a way we are no different as each one of us desires to create with our minds. We produce what we hope many people will appreciate and enjoy. So  please enjoy the works published on this site. Thank you/Merci for visiting!

I would like to begin by introducing my latest work. In The latter months of 2009 the release of my third book"The Many Faces of War," finally arrived. This book took on a more serious nature as the topic itself was difficult to write about. Many hours of research, gathering articles, letters, stories and photos from Canadian citizens held top priority. The book commanded attention on an almost daily basis. Through the words it is hoped that the reader understands how war effects all of us no matter what status we hold in life. This book was written to honour our troops both from the past and present day wars.

As Veterans of the Royal Canadian Legions of various Ottawa, Ontario, Canadian Branches state, "It has been too long since the soldiers felt such pride from the public." These words I hold dear to my heart. For these brave men and women they feel good about being remembered. Also, with every purchase two dollars will be donated to an organization such as http://www.woundedwarriors.ca  These monies will assist thesoldiers and their families in dealing with the stress that comes upon their return home from tour.

The second book written and self-published is Life's Ride - A Journal of Poems. It was written in 2007 and was so much fun to write. This book is basically an introduction into getting to know me as the author, the way I think, my ideals, the creativity and so forth. I enjoyed going on this journey as the book reveals.  Once again when asked by a reader what their thoughts were on the book it was nice to hear, "the book took me away for awhile to a happy place." These are the words a writer likes to hear.

The first book I had self-published is The Christmas Cat  written in 2006. This is an entertaining tale of the Christmas Cat's coming is revealed by Crystal, the elderly white Persian cat to Puggers, the scruffy newcomer at the Randell family home. I've taken note that all age groups have found it to be a most delightful read. Some readers have gone on to say, "they will make this enchanting children's story a part of their family Christmas tradition."

Personal Musings from the Author

I wish to share with you something that truly made me sit back and think about what REALLY is important in life. I received an e-mail from a gentleman working in Afghanistan. You ask why would he want to work over there? It is quite simple, his brother was killed in action in November of 2009 while on active tour of duty.
He states his "life was never the same" since that phone call. How could it EVER be? He lost his friend and a brother he loved. There is no turning back the hands of time, no turning a blind eye to what goes on in our world, no time for ignorance to the fact the world is suffering, no, this is the time to stand forward and do whatever you can to make someone else's life a little better. This gentleman is helping those in Afghanistan just as his bother did. Mind you it is not in the same way, yet somehow I believe his brother's spirit is guiding him to go beyond the box, experience what he experienced and share with the world what atrocities still go on today.

I thank this complete stranger for having a heart that cares for humanity. His words brought me near tears and the photos he shared of his loving family will stick in my photogenic memory for a long time to come. We may not all get the opportunity to see first hand how the people of Afghanistan are coping however we must believe those who share with us just such stories. May this gentleman's brother's spirit find peace and may the remaining family find strength in one another. Yes, he has touched my life, there will be more prayers said for all the Canadians in Afghanistan.
